Manon Rheaume has helped many people and has achieved many things in her lifetime.  These are some of her biggest accomplishments.

MANON RHEAUME IN HISTORY

     Manon Rheaume paved the way for women in history in may ways.  Manon Rheaume showed women that no matter who you are you can do anything.  No one ever thought that girls could play a physical sport like hockey but Manon Rheaume changed that.  She proved to other women especially in sports that you can do anything you set your mind to.  She also showed many woman that they can pursue a career in hockey no matter what anyone else tells them. 

MANON RHEAUMES LIFE

Manon Rheaume is the first female hockey goalie born on February 24, 1972.  In her early life, Manon Rheaume liked to skate and liked the sport hockey.  She grew up with two brothers one of which is now a hockey player for the New Jersey Devils. Later on in her life, Manon Rheaume played for various minor league teams like the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League which is one of Canada's top major junior hockey leagues. She played on this team for one season making her the first female hockey player to play in the mens junior A hockey league! After playing on the league she was signed by the Tampa Bay Lightning Professional Hockey Team in 1992 as a free agent. This was the first time ever that a woman tried out to be on a professional all mens hockey team! She made her first appearances in two games against the St Louis Blues and the Boston Bruins hockey teams. In the St Louis game she only let down 2 goals. After playing in the NHL for a little while she went to the Olympics and won a a gold metal in 1992 and 1994 and a silver metal in 1998. Manon Rheaume ended her career in 200 and started the Manon Rheaume Foundation to help girls get scholarships in hockey.
